Getting started.
Installation
NOVA installs like any Shopify theme. No apps, plugins, or third-party accounts required.
Add NOVA to your store
From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes. Click Add theme, then search for NOVA — Editorial Commercein the Shopify Theme Store. Click Try theme or Buy theme.
Choose a preset
After installing, go to Customize. Open Theme settings (gear icon). NOVA ships with three presets — Editorial (warm stone), Natural (earthy olive), and Dark (midnight gold). Select one as your starting point; all colours, typography, and spacing will update instantly.
Upload your logo
In the theme editor, click the Header section. Upload your logo as an SVG or transparent PNG. Set the logo width — the default is 120px. NOVA displays a text logo (your store name in the heading font) when no image is uploaded.
Set up navigation
NOVA's header reads from your Main menu in Shopify admin > Navigation. Create nested menus for the mega menu — NOVA supports one level of dropdowns on desktop and an accordion drawer on mobile.
Configure your homepage
The homepage template includes pre-configured sections: Hero, Collection List, Product Carousel, Editorial Split, Collection Spotlight, Promo Banner, Featured Collection, Benefits, Testimonials, Blog Posts, and Newsletter. Each section is drag-and-drop from the theme editor sidebar. Remove what you don't need, reorder, and assign collections and products.
Connect products and collections
Each section that shows products (Featured Collection, Product Carousel, Collection Spotlight) has a Collection setting. Pick your collections from the dropdown. Product cards automatically display title, price, compare-at price, colour swatches (from variant options named "Color" or "Colour"), and material/variant-count meta line.
Publish
When you're happy with the customisation, go back to Online Store > Themes and click Publish on NOVA. Your previous theme remains available as an unpublished backup.

Product setup tips
Colour swatches: Name your variant option "Color" or "Colour". NOVA automatically generates swatches from variant images. For custom swatch colours, add a colour metafield to each variant.
Size guide: Create a size_chart metaobject definition with a body rich text field. Link it to products via a metafield reference. The product page automatically shows a "Size Guide" link that opens a drawer.
Selling plans: If you use a subscriptions app that provides selling plan groups, NOVA displays a purchase options block with plan selection automatically.
Development / CLI
If you're a developer customising NOVA locally:
Run shopify theme check before deploying to catch Liquid errors and performance warnings.
